Game Cancellation Procedures (for weather)
Soccer games are generally played when there is light to moderate rain. The league will occasionally cancel a set of games or practices for bad weather or because the fields are unplayable.
Players and coaches (particularly in the U6-U10 age groups) are always encouraged to use their own judment and may withhold their players or cancel/reschedule games even if the club has not closed the complex.
If game(s) are cancelled, the league will do it's best to reschedule a set of games (or cancel practices) under the following conditions:
- Lightning or predictable lightning due to thunderstorms are coming through.
- Too much rain has fallen during the previous hours that the fields become water logged and will be damaged by use.
- Unreasonably cold conditions, particularly with rain or other precipitation.
If we close the fields (except for unexpected lightning), we will try to make that decision at least two hours before the scheduled game or practice time. The following actions will be taken:
- Coaches and Team Managers will be notified.
- If possible, the Home page of our website will updated to reflect cancellations.
- "No Soccer Today" signs will be posted at the fields.
- Coaches will be notified as to when the games can be made-up.
Depending on the situation, we may cancel only one or two hours' worth of games (e.g., a passing thunderstorm), rather than a whole set of games.
